We believe in the importance of community.

The Reggio Emilia approach is rooted deeply in the belief that children, teachers, and parents all work together to deepen and cultivate a meaningful learning process.

The classroom and surrounding environment are big contributors to how a child learns. Our goal at Hatch Kids Learning is to use a nature-based environment to provide a safe and calm space so that children can explore freely.

What it really means —

  • Our educators are trained to be responsive, reflective and respectful, modelling these behaviours for the children and instilling them into the learning environment. They actively listen and observe each student in order to effectively respond to their social, emotional, intellectual and physical developmental needs. It is through this sensitivity and focus that we get to know the children and set the tone for a safe and captivating classroom experience.

  • In our PreK programs, our interactive and engaging curriculum is designed to be both topic- and pre-K-based, and is created based on both the children's interests and the Early Learning Framework (ELF). We consciously consider how our teaching philosophies affect a child's development and design our lesson plans to meet the unique developmental goals of each child. Teachers create opportunities where children are encouraged to become self-motivated learners, utilize problem solving strategies, and enhance their social awareness. It also encourages our educators to remain open-minded and to make changes where needed, while reinforcing productive classroom methods and strategies.

  • In our Daycare programs, our play- and inquiry-based curriculum is designed to be both topic- and age-appropriate, and is developed in alignment with the children’s interests and the Early Learning Framework (ELF). We consciously consider how our teaching philosophies influence a child’s development and design our daily plans to support the unique developmental goals of each child. Teachers create opportunities where children are encouraged to explore, problem-solve, and build meaningful social connections.

The longer day allows for a balanced rhythm of active engagement, quiet rest, and nurturing routines, helping children feel secure and supported as they grow. Educators are intentional in fostering a sense of community, belonging, and well-being, while remaining reflective and flexible in adapting practices to best meet the needs of the group and the individual child.

  • In our school-aged programs, we follow a similar approach and framework to develop self-motivated learners, helping each child build trusting relationships with our educators as well as with each other. Educators will dive into inquiry-based projects together with the children, encouraging self-guided exploration and experiential learning.
